Steve Heiny, Executive Director
Steve, an Indiana native, began his YMCA camping career in 1992. He worked 9 years at YMCA Camp Woodstock in Connecticut. He worked with YMCAs in Massachusetts and South Carolina. Steve has also worked at YMCAs in Russia, Australia, Czech Republic, and Brazil. Steve has a degree from Purdue University in Elementary Education. He lives at camp with his wife and three children.
 
  Jeff Mabry, Program Director
Jeff Mabry began his YMCA career in Indianapolis in 2004 after graduating from Anderson University with a degree in Christian Ministries. Jeff's experience with the YMCA began with the Before and After School Program and Summer Day Camp. Jeff has a passion for camp, the outdoors, and his wife Stephanie. Jeff and Stephanie will be welcoming their first child in the middle of March!
 
  Melinda Williamson, Business Services Director
Melinda began her YMCA career with Flat Rock River Summer Camp in 2005. Melinda earned her B.S. from St. Mary of the Woods College in Indiana. She and her husband, Tracy, have raised three children. With the third child prepared for college, she decided it was time to return to the workforce. What better way to return than by going to camp everyday!
 
  Brian Martin, Director of Buildings and Properties
Brian keeps everyting running smoothly at Flat Rock. He joined our team in 2008. Before his time with us, Brian ran his own home remodeling business in Shelbyville. He is an active member of his church and a talented musician. Brian has a degree in pastoral ministry from Olivet Nazarene Univeristy.
 
  Summer Camp Staff: Every summer, a staff of about 45 people are hired to operate our Summer Resident and Day camping programs. Positions include: Senior Counselor, Program Area Directors of areas such as Aquatics, Nurse/Medic, Ranch, Challenger, Main Camp Boys and Main Camp Girls, and Counselor-In-Training.   School year staff: Program Instructors are part of the team of about 9 people who produce a program offered to school and youth groups whose mission is to promote understanding of and care for people and nature, through experiential education. Class topics include natural science, group development, values, challenge education, history, arts and crafts, environmental studies, recreation, and outdoor skills. The program links with the school curriculum, focusing on aspects best done out of the classroom, and outdoors. The Instructor team is lead by two coordinators: one for Outdoor Environmental Education (school programs), and another for Group Camping (weekend programs).
